Women in Philosophy Bayreuth – Lecture Series
A lecture series that aims to promote the visibility of women philosophers and celebrate their contribution to the discipline. The lectures also create a friendly space for the public discussion of gender inequality. Women in Philosophy is being organized by prof. Alice Walla and funded thanks to the support of the Chancengleichheit of the University of Bayreuth. In December 2019 the first WIP Conference was held featuring the research of nine philosophers from five different countries. The event, which took the place of the semester lectures series, brought together in two days the contributions of various researchers to the practice and thought in philosophy. Check it out on social media.
I am co-publisher and founder of GenderTalks, a project that seeks to broadcast academic knowledge mainly to a non-specialist audience. The main goal of GenderTalks is to spread and foster knowledge on gender-related topics through digital platforms. This is done mainly through videos led by our guest specialists and content for social platforms (Facebook and Instagram). In addition, there are interviews and short essays which, like the other content we create, are published on our website.
Untrue News Search Engine
Member of design and strategic development teams of Untrue.News, a project that develops a unique search engine designed exclusively for retrieving Fake Stories and their Authors, filling a gap left by Multipurpose tools. The engine helps people to get to know specifically about fake stories involving a particular person or a subject, as regular search engines don’t provide satisfying results. To me, be part of the team means an opportunity to help to foster epistemic responsibility, as fake news has the potential to influence the political and social fields by its power in determining people’s states of belief.
Co-leader of the social media outreach advocacy team and member of public philosophy advocacy team of Philosophers for Sustainability, an international group of philosophers that aims to encourage our profession to take leadership on climate change and environmental sustainability and to integrate environmental issues into philosophic work, not only by means of including the topic in our research but more immediately, in a wide range of philosophy courses and in our service to the profession.
